Missed dose guide

Enter the day you were due to inject, and see what the U.S. label says for that medicine. If you are unsure, call your prescriber or pharmacist.

–

Summarises the U.S. labels for once-weekly injections, by calendar day. Wegovy tablets and other products have different rules. Your own instructions come first, and this is not medical advice.

What the labels say

MedicineMissed one dose
OzempicTake within 5 days. Later than that, skip it.
WegovyTake it if the next dose is more than 2 days away. If less, skip it.
MounjaroTake within 4 days (96 hours). Later than that, skip it.
ZepboundTake within 4 days (96 hours). Later than that, skip it.

Then carry on with your usual injection day. For Wegovy, missing 2 or more doses in a row means restarting at a lower dose, so call your prescriber.

Key takeaways

  • Days late = today − scheduled date.
  • If days late is within the window, take it. If beyond, skip it.
  • Doubling up to make up for a missed dose is something labels warn against; check yours.
  • Missing several in a row is a question for your prescriber.

What this tool does

This guide takes the date of the missed dose and compares it with the window stated for the medicine. It shows whether the label would have you take the dose now or wait for the next.

It is not a replacement for your label or for a phone call to your clinic.

How the arithmetic works

  1. Days late = today − scheduled date.
  2. Compare with the label's window: 5 days for Ozempic, 4 days (96 hours) for Mounjaro and Zepbound.
  3. Wegovy is worded by the next dose instead: take the missed dose if the next is more than 2 days away.

A worked example

Example. These numbers are made up to show the steps. They are not a label value and not a suggestion.

Made-up window of 3 days. A dose scheduled on Monday and remembered on Wednesday is 2 days late, inside the window. Remembered on Friday it is 4 days late, outside it, so the rule says wait for the next scheduled day.

What the U.S. labels add

  • After a late dose, go back to your usual day.
  • Missing 2 or more Wegovy doses in a row means restarting at a lower dose.
  • The injection day can move if the doses stay far enough apart: at least 2 days for Ozempic, and 3 days (72 hours) for Mounjaro and Zepbound.

Frequently asked questions

Can I double up next time?

The labels tell you to skip a dose outside the window and carry on with the next one. They don't tell you to take extra.

Does the window differ by medicine?

It can. Check each label.

Who decides?

Your prescriber, using your label.

How Reko does this in the app

Reko can schedule reminders that never name the medication, and the day screen shows what was due and what was taken. If you took a dose late, you set the actual date and time, and you can correct any dose later.

Reko records what you and your prescriber decide. It never suggests a dose, and this page is not medical advice.
