Click count calculator
How the Mounjaro dose calculator works
- Pick your pen strengthEach KwikPen delivers one full dose, printed on the pen. Choose it from the list.
- Enter the doseType the dose your prescriber gave you, in mg. It can be a full dose or a smaller amount you agreed with them.
- Read the click countThe calculator shows the whole number of clicks that comes closest, what they would deliver, and how many injections like it the pen holds.
Check it against your label
- The U.S. label gives no click count. Lilly's instructions for use say: "Do not count clicks as you select the dose."
- It lists each KwikPen as 2.4 mL holding 4 doses of 0.6 mL, which is 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 mg in total, for doses of 2.5 to 15 mg. After 4 doses it says to throw the pen away, including any medicine left in it.
- If your instructions say not to take part-doses, follow them. If your pen has fixed dose steps, the dial already shows the dose and there is nothing to count.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Mounjaro KwikPen click counter?
It estimates how many clicks of the dose knob correspond to an amount in mg. It is an approximation. It does not suggest a dose, and what you take comes from your prescriber and your label.
How many clicks are in a full dose?
The label does not say. This page starts at 60, which assumes 0.6 mL per full dose and 0.01 mL per click. The first figure is on the label; the second is not. Count your own pen and change the number.
How many clicks equal 2.5 mg?
With 60 clicks in a full dose, a 10 mg pen gives about 0.167 mg per click, so 2.5 mg is 15 clicks. A 5 mg pen gives 30 clicks and a 15 mg pen gives 10. These follow from the assumption above, not from the label.
How much medicine is in one click?
The full dose divided by the clicks in it. With 60 clicks, a 10 mg pen gives about 0.167 mg per click and a 15 mg pen gives 0.25 mg. A stronger pen has more in each click.
Can you split doses using clicks?
Some people do, but it is not a method Lilly describes or supports, and the instructions say not to count clicks. The mechanism has slack, so a small number of clicks is unreliable. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist first.
What about the medicine left after four doses?
Lilly's instructions say to throw the pen away after four doses, even if some medicine is left. The leftover cannot be measured with the dial, and the label does not describe a fifth dose. The "Golden Dose" switch in the calculator only changes the pen total in the sum, and shows this warning when it is on.
Does this work for single-dose pens?
No. Only a multi-dose KwikPen has a dose knob. A single-dose pen delivers its dose in one press, so there is nothing to count.
How is the result worked out?
Amount per click = full dose ÷ clicks in a full dose. Clicks = desired dose ÷ amount per click, rounded to the nearest whole click. Delivered = whole clicks × amount per click. Injections in the pen = full dose × 4 ÷ delivered, rounded down (× 5 if Golden Dose is switched on).
Example with made-up numbers: a full dose of 10 mg in 100 clicks is 0.1 mg per click. Wanting 2.5 mg gives 25 clicks, delivering exactly 2.5 mg. Wanting 0.25 mg gives 2.5 clicks, which rounds to 3 and delivers 0.3 mg, 20% over. The calculator warns you about a result like that. It also warns for fewer than 2 clicks, and for a dose larger than a full dose.

Off-label notice. Counting clicks to take part of a dose is a community practice, not a method approved by the maker. The pen is designed to deliver full doses.
Keep your Mounjaro doses in Reko
Reko counts clicks, flags a dose a pen can't deliver reliably, and stores the amount you actually took, so your record shows what was delivered and not only what was planned. It never suggests a dose.
